Nas nossas deambulações mitológicas já nos tinhamos cruzado com o compositor inglês Harrison Birtwistle, a propósito da sua obra Theseus Game, baseada na aventura labiríntica do herói grego Teseu (post Mitologia - 6, de 8 de Setembro).
Voltamos agora a este compositor a propósito do disco pulse shadows, que contém um conjunto de canções escritas a partir de poemas de Paul Celan (1920-1970), nascido Paul Antschel, poeta romeno que teve uma vida deveras agitada. Perdeu os pais, mortos às mãos dos nazis, e ele próprio experimentou os rigores de um campo de trabalhos forçados na Alemanha. Depois da guerra mudou-se para França, onde viveu até à sua morte em 1970, por suicídio (afogou-se no Sena). Escrevia em alemão, pelo que Birtwistle utilizou a tradução para inglês efectuada por Michael Hamburger (1924-). Boas audições!
